I have a mixed daughter with long hair. I straighten it about once a week. She has lots of split ends, and her hair looks very dry instead of healthy and shiny. We've tried deep conditiong treatments, daily moisturizing products, moose. Everything we put in her hair seems to make it look dirty instead of healthy and shiny. If anyone has any secrets that could help, I would appriciate it.

Well first don't wash it everyday that can dry ur daughters hair out.
When you straighten it use a heat protector, maybe one with shine, but a heat protector that will reduce the split ends. Use a satin or silk scarf or pillow case, because cotton tears the hair and use a oil sheen to finish the hair. Don't weigh the hair down with products and since she has mixed hair it's probably naturally curly which means she has natural oil in her hair so only put oil in it on a need only basis.
I hope this helps! Good Luck!

Well it depends what style you're looking for. But i noticed that you said you straighten her hair often, that doesnt make her hair any healthier. Why dont you use leave it natural, its probably really curly and you can just part her hair in different styles and tie it up or leave it down. If you wanted her ahir really straight you can use hair cream. Since shes a kid i think you should use the pink "just for me" hair cream (pink bottle) then straighten it. It makes it look really shiny and healthier. Good luck!

i am mixed and i had the same problem what i did was went to a hair store bought a relaxing hair kit. it costs about 10 dollars you may need to but 2 depending on the thickness and length my hair is thick an d goes past my shoulders and i use two boxes. follow the in structions closely! i use that on my hair and even though i have split ends it smooths them out nicely. i may have to bump them with a flat iron. u have to repeat this every 3 weeks. this works best for me! good luck

i used to straighten my hair everyday, i damaged my hair soo much my hair dresser banned me from using the GHDs totally and made me:
-have the ends trimmed every 6 weeks
-use heat protection even if im only blow drying my hair
-use hair products that add moisture and shine i like john frieda moisture infusing shampoo and conditioner and the colour glaze for shine
some other things that i have heard is:
-using mayonaise as a hair mask once a week helps
-model anna bayle used to soak her hair in olive oil to help moisturise it
-jennifer aniston uses horse shampoo because it really adds shine

well it sounds like your daughters hair is quite damaged. About her split ends, I would reccomend getting a regular trim. Beleive me, I straighten my hair regularly and trims certainly get rid of split ends. If you can't afford a trim, you can usually do it at home, but you should take your time and maybe read a how-to book. If her hair still looks very dry, I would reccomend a moisturizing hair mask, or talk to your stylist if nothing seems to be working. She might have a product for you. Also, make sure you use a moisturizing shampoo and condidtioner. Also, when she goes into the sun be sure to have SPF hairspray or something in. Also, a steam straightener may be helpful to prevent breakage and drying it out.
Hope everything works out!! %26lt;3
