How do you dye black hair? (see details)?

I would rather not bleach my hair because I heard that isn't healthy. I just want to make the tips of my hair pink or purple (I have spiked hair). Will bleaching just the tips still ruin my hair?

The model is probably Blonde, because she is definitely wrong! When hair is dyed, bleached etc., the cortex of the hair must be opened to reach the cuticle where the dye binds. In order to do this you have to change the PH of the hair; thereby breaking , and forming bonds within the hair structure. The more harsh the treatment, (and bleaching is a very harsh treatment) the more bonds that are broken, and cannot be re-formed. So, the answer is, yes it will damage your hair, but only on the tips where you said you were concerned with.

Just bleach it, if your just doing your tips then it's not going to hurt them that much. Your just going to cut them off anyways eventually. Look at the the blondes in Hollywood you don't think they bleach their hair on a regular basis and they look georgeous!!!! Just use lots of conditioning treatment and you'll be fine.
