What vitamins/minerals/foods can help my hair grow quicker? or healthier?

L'cystine which is an amino acid has been know to make your hair grow faster. It's important to get enough B vitamins because that can also help with hair growth. For shiny, stronger hair Biotin and Silica are great. Also you can also see great results when taking flax seed oil. Any supplement that contain a good amount of omega 3,6, and 9 is good for your hair, skin, nails, and your brain.

Go to your local feed store and wash your hair with "mane %26amp; tail" shampoo for washing a horse. It's full of extra protien and you will see your hair grow faster. They even sell it now at most department/pharmacy stores in the hair product section.

Vtamin E, and prenatals.

Take vitamin E, it will help your hair grow healthy and shinny....

An "old wife's tale" (which I actually used and I have to admit it works)... is to add to your shampoo 10 contraceptive pills (powdered), mix it, and wash your hair with until you are done - of course, don't wash your hair more than normal.

I tried this years ago and it worked, no reprecautions or side effects. If you have access to birth control it's worth giving it a try.

Don't like this idea... then stick to the vitamin E.

Good luck!

Well - you may get a lot of answers but the truth is - if your normal food is relatively balanced there is not much you can add to change your hair's appearance. The way your hair grows is really genetically determined.

That includes the shape, locks or smooth, the color, the thickness of the individual hair, how many and where. When they get grey or disappear also this is mostly genetically defined. As long as you do not eat any poison, drugs or stuff which can make the hair fall out they will just grow the way th genes are programmed.

So - healthier hair. The question is - what is not healthy with your hair? Does it split? Does it fall out? The reasons may rather be in too much washing, airdrying, perming and all treatments you give it. It is dry and splits then don't airblow, wash as rarely as possible and with a very mild shampoo.

Making it grow faster: As long as you eat normal it will grow on it's best speed, only if you starve it may get slower. Why would you want to make your hair grow faster? Perhaps there are other workarounds to address your reason?

With that in mind: For getting and keeping healthy hair you can do less (treatments). For better looks you can perm and dye it - which also "thickens" it by roughing the hair structure up. And hair transplants are an option to increase the number of hair on your head.

And you can rub certain things into your hair to make it look better, from gel, to oils to birch extract dissolved in ethanol.

As far as foods you should eat lots of fruits and veggies and don't eat alot of starches. Fruits and veggies contain what are called flavonoids. Alot of flavonoids are anitoxidents that encourage hair growth.

You might want to check into taking a biotin supplement. Biotin is needed for healthy hair and is good for your skin as well. Some foods that are a good source of biotin are brown rice, bulgur, green peas, lentils, oats sunflower seeds and walnuts.

A good multi-vitamin with the B-complex vitamins are also important for health and growth of your hair. Also Vitamin E which can improve the circulation to your scalp.

Remember that long exposure to sunlight and saltwater can damage your hair. It is fragile when it's wet so make sure you gently pat it dry. Don't comb your hair until it is dry because the wet hair can break off. And of course you know that blow dryers and using other heat appliances on your hair really isn't good.

Hope this helps you some!

there are supplements sold by GNC [General Nutrition Center] that are called "Nourishair"........you can find them on the internet to see what is in them. Also ProCaps labs sells a "hair skin and nails" formula , the main ingredient in both of these is Biotin, and you can get that by itself at most Walmart stores. If you take Biotin alone, take a minimum of 2500 micrograms a day or 2.5 milligrams.......they tend to be labeled in micrograms.
