I am thinking about getting some highlights/ lowlights. I have never dyed my hair (its dark brown and fairly healthy too), and I dont want to change it too much. I want something subtle and not tooo much up keep. Should I dye it, or no? Any advice?

Sure, try it and see how you like it. You can always go back to your natural color if it's not suiting. Go with some henna red or blonde to play up your color.

Well, without having seen a picture of you, I want to say that there is nothing wrong with having dark brown hair. In fact, it can look rather stunning. If this is your first time, ask for a few subtle highlights. If you are unsure, the stylist can do a few strands underneath the back of your hair so you can see what they will look like before experimenting with half of you head. If your hair is already dark, you may not need the low lights just yet because you will already have a nice contrast.
However, with highlights, there is upkeep if you want them to look nice. You can count on a good touch-up probably every 8 weeks at the most. Every other time you can have the stylist just "break the base" (touch up your roots) without having to re-highlight. But, nothing looks worse than hair that has been highlighted and not touched up in three or more months.

It's just hair. Do what you want. If you don't like it you can change it back, grow it out, cut it off, etc.
