10 wk old boxer with hair loss.?

I have a 10 wk old female boxer. She is up to date on shots. She is losing small patches of hair all over her body. Acting healthy. I took her to the vet yesterday we checked for mites, fleas and hives. It's none of those. He said he has never seen this before. She had some redness in her paws and swelling. He put her on an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory med. But he said we are just treating the symptoms. If this doesn't work, we will have a dermatologist look at her and then if they do not know what is going on, we will have to do a skin sample. Any ideas what this could be?

I don't think that you would get much help here, if you have already researched all of the possibilities. Possible allergy if they vet can not find anything. Best bet is to go to a specialist or at least get a second opinion.

the tests for mange (skin scrapes) aren't always accurate. You may end up repeating that one. Also the quick tests for fungul infections aren't accurate at all. Those have to be cultured to be fairly accurate.

I would consult another vet if this vet is saying there are no signs of allergies. Redness in paws is a definte sign of allergy. I would also ask for a new skin scraping if the patches of hair missing are about the size of an eraser head. Good luck

Lighter Hair?

I recently got my hair dyed from dark blonde to light ash brown. But with my complexion it looks REALLY dark. It was JUST dyed Saturday. I'm not a real big fan of it as much. It does make me look kind of like a drag.

I want to color it back to blonde in May or mid summer time. I'm terrified it will turn orange.

So here are my questions..

How can I avoid it from turning orange without using harmful chemicals?

If you go out in the sun a lot, it will naturally lighten the color. Plus any color placed over blonde lightens faster anyway.

If you end up bleaching it to get it back to blonde, your going to have to worry more about it turning green because of the ash in the brown that you colored it. It won't turn orange at this point. The person who mentioned red undertones is right. Pick a blonde with a red undertone to cancel out the ash that way your hair won't turn green.

Your best bet would be to have someone at a salon do this just to make sure.

There is no real way to make your hair grow faster... average is somewhere like 1/4 inch a month. Been a long time since I was in school but I know it's around there. People swear up and down hair vitamins work but I've never bothered trying. Your hair grows at it's own rate. No real way to speed growth up, but it is possible to slow it down. You could try to minimize heat damage to it though (blow-drying and straightening) to help it stay conditioned and healthy.

Hi. I'm a 13 year old girl with really pretty wavy chocolate-brown hair 2-4 inches past my shoulders. It's reaalllyy healthy and stuff. Only thing is it's frizzy...really frizzy...EXTREMELLY frizzy (well..not that frizzy) and when I go to school and stuff i can't put my hair down like i love to because of the frizz..so does anybody recomend anything? like certain hairstyles or hair remedies that help tame frizz? If you offer hairstyles then remember that I only have about half an hour to do it every morning and I loove creativity so give me everything you've got!!..and I don't like to use ton-loads of gel..=) I'm open to blow drying my hair but not ALL the time so um...any help?

I add a little carrot oil to my hair (not much) mine is down to the middle of my back. You can find it in the ethnic area. My mom is hungarian. This REALLY WORKS.

As long as you dont' use a lot of products in your hair and you don't straighten it, it will be healthy. All i do is wash condition and blowdry my hair and it is healthy as can be.

No Mane and Tale doesn't help. I have a full bottle on my dresser becasue when i used it once after the shower, it made 8 or 9 strans of hair fall out of my head. WHILE I PUT IT IN! I would suggest Suave, Dove, Garneir, all the leading stuff, those help your hair grow and free of tangles. Trust me on this. I work as a teenage assistant for a beauty shop (I am only 11), and my boss tells me everything. ( 8 bucks and hour, heck yea!)

warm up some olive oil and put it through your hair,

wrap your head in clingfilm,

then warp some warm towels around your head.

leave for 15mins then wash out with shampoo and conditioner.

this is like a moisturiser for your hair!

some celebrities use this method.

Going to a pro would be your best bet but if that is not able to happen at the moment I would use a super think conditioner after you wash in the shower then also get a leave-in conditioner. Loreal and Aussie both have good coditioners. These aren't the regular ones you would buy they are normally in a smaller container to use only like twice a week. As for leave-in you can get Infusium 23 or Aussie has a dual mousse leave-in that is great so it conditions and styles....I like it a lot, I recommend it all the time!

I have naturally curly hair too, and recently got the best advice ever - don't scrimp on Shampoo and Conditioner. Buy the best you can, even if it's expensive. It can actually change the texture and shape of your curls!

I would also go into a salon and get a clarifying shampoo (to get out all the gunk) and a deep conditioning to repair the curls. After one visit, my curls were soo improved, I decided not to cut my hair.

And finally, if you use a ceramic flat iron to straighten your hair until your natural curls come back, you should be able to switch back and forth between curly and straight without any hair damage.

then, try F.A.S.T. (Fortified Amino Scalp Therapy) system. look it up online. its by Nisim. This stuff is GREAT! I love it so much.

The best way to lose the appearance of split ends is to get your hair cut. Aussi makes this shampoo/conditioner that is supposed to help your hair stay strong from the roots to the ends, but I can't think of what it is called right now. If you can avoid blow drying your hair every day, it helps to keep your hair looking better longer, but if you have wild hair like me, that's not really an option. Make sure to condition your hair daily, and don't do too many things that will fry it because that'll cause more split ends. Anti-friz creams might help lower the appearance of split ends, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Hey hun, I dont know about all horse shampoo, but mane and tail is great. It does make your hair healthy, but inbetween washings you are going to want to use a clensing shampoo like Herbal Essence because the horse shampoo will build up on your hair over time and choke it.

Now, I know it sounds silly, but if you cut all of the dead ends off your hair it will grow faster. Also, if you dye or straighten your hair or use ALOT of product in your hair a hot oil treatment will help keep the ends from splitting. Read the directions. Some you will do once a week and some are once a month.

I recommend going to Sally Beauty Supply stores and talking to a rep there to match your hair type with the proper products. The good thing? If you dont like anything you purchased you can return it for a full refund (keep your reciept and pay attention to the return time) even if you have opened it and tried the product.

Include eggs, nuts and lots of veggies in your diet. Drink lots of water blah, blah, blah.

Regularly condition the ends (below your ears).

Check for split/damaged ends to the hair. Once there is damage you need to trim it off or your hair will not grow.

Use a shampoo that works for you is all I can say. One that makes your hair feel clean and in good condition, I use herbal essences cause it works for me.

Ed: Ok, I stand corrected. ; ) It still won't make it grow faster though, be careful it doesn't dry out your hair.

my hair is the exact same as you've described yours! i just wear mine wavy for a few days then change it back to straight next time i wash it. everyone has their own opinion on which looks better, but i prefer wavy. afterall, not everyone has wavy/curly hair so why not use what you've naturally got? :]

I need help with my hair!?

I am a dancer and I'm getting headshots taken this week so that I can go out on auditions. One problem, I went to get my hair trimmed so that it would look healthy in the pictures but the woman cut off 3 inches more than i wanted!!! I was devestated and I need some help with how i should do my hair to make it look good. I had long brown curly hair but now its a little longer than my shoulders. Does anyone have any good ideas to make my hair look good for my pictures? I'm going for absolutely no frizz but i think i want to keep it curly. Does anyone have any methods for completely eliminating frizz and getting perfect curls?

Well my hair is naturally straight on the top, big-ish curls on the bottom. I was wondering if there is anything i could do to my hair to make the curls look more healthy , full of body and mousterized.

I use olive oil about every one to two weeks. I use head and sholders shapoo (double rinse) because i have a bit of dandruff and after i get out of the shower i towel dry, apply a dot of frizz serum and WALAH! Im done. I let it air dry, by the way.

Dandruff shampoo may work great for dandruff but not for dry hair! Use a different shampoo and a leave in conditioner. Also, try Palmers Olive Oil based cream ...you can get it at Walmart. DO NOT towel dry...this will frizz your hair! Air dry and then use a defuser.

It is now just about shoulder length whilst curly, which I hate cause I always wear it long and straight. Because I always used to straighten it, it was very dry and brittle with split ends so it needed the many inches cut off.

I am now planning to wear it curly all the time, until it gets really long and straighten it for occasions.
