i want to get a trim,

but i am trying to grow my hair out.

so if i cut 1/2 an inch,

will i get all the split ends off?

and would my hair be

healthier to get longer?

ok first of all get a good hair cut, then treat ur hair with reconstructive treatments and do not abuse ur hair with heated styling tools such as flat irons and blowdryers. and if u have to use them, use a protectant in ur hair.

Even if you're growing your hair out, you should know you HAVE to get cuts every now and then. Long hair has more split ends because you've had it for longer. As for the 1/2 inch thing, it depends how bad your split ends are. I'd just chop an inch off if I were you, but if you're growing your hair out 1/2 inch is a good comprimise.

use a special healing shampoo and conditioner that repairs damaged hair but only use it every other day, so get your hair trimmed at a regular non expensive salon, and have them trim the split ends

The only remedy for split ends is to cut them off, so a trim is best (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch). Make sure to give your hair a weekly or bi-weekly deep conditioning treatment, use as little heat and products with alcohol as possible, and be gentle (no excessive combing or brushing). what i would do is get it cut but i depends on your hair type too. if you have hort layers then they will have to be cut shorter too. but get it cut then stop using your hair straightners and curlers for a bit and use them when nessasary. But ask your hair dresser if they know of any products to prevent split ends. I suggest you use the BED HEADE TIGI Ego Boost. Its a bit pricey but is brilliant.

People keep saying that by cutting the split ends off makes your hair healthier. True, it makes it LOOK healthier, but I read a doctor's article in the newspaper and he stated that it makes absolutely no difference. Things to help split ends...

-get productd for when you sraighten your hair (I think it's a mist of some sort)

-get your hair cut (1 inch every time you go *don't worry it barely looks different*)

u should definitely get 1/2 an inch to an inch cut off...it will make ur hair healthier, and make it grow faster; it should get rid of most, or almost all split ends.
